Born to be Wild - Millican Dalton & Castle Crag
Wainwright called the Jaws of Borrowdale, "the loveliest square mile in Lakeland". In the first half of the twentieth century, a cave on the slopes of Castle Crag was home to Millican Dalton, who quit his job in a London office to become a self-styled, "Professor of Adventure". On this walk up Castle Crag, I visit the cave and recall a Christmas story, that I'm sure Millican would have loved.
